Something Green UWIB Blog Hop

Welcome to our first monthly UWIB Blog Hop!  Every 4th Sunday we will have a new hop with a new theme along with our fabulous UWIB participants!  Be prepared to be wowed by our members!  UWIB, Unique Women in Business, is an ETSY Team – our members are creative, supportive, and are wonderful friends!

With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, this month’s theme is “Something Green.”  I’m featuring a couple of my “green” things.  First is this set of adorable hand-chenilled potholders.  I just love the little birdies, they remind me of the Twitter Bird, on a green background.

The second “Something Green” that I have to share with you is my upcycled “Everyone Loves an Irish Girl” Tote.  It used to be a TShirt and I have now transformed it into this cute little tote.  Who wouldn’t want this for their St. Patrick’s Day celebration?

Be sure to check out my RitasCreationsOnETSY shop for more potholders, St. Patrick’s Day themed totes, Pee Pee Cones, and more….  And please visit my UWIB sisters who are participating in the “Something Green” Blog Hop too!  You’ll be green with envy when you’re done!

Upcycled T Shirts

I love going to thrift shops to find treasures that can be recycled/upcycled into something new and useful!  Breathing life into something again is so satisfying as the creative juices eek out something useful, something fun, or something totally unexpected.  (And yes, there is that brainstorm that totally falls flat on its face and the revamped article will never see the light of day again!)

Lately I have been collecting T Shirts to upcycle them into totes, purses, and/or wallets.  I hunt through the racks and racks of T Shirts to come up with a few that will make that perfect tote or purse for someone.

A Green Bay Packer fan donated a shirt to one of the local thrift stores and I transformed it into this tote for another Green Bay Packer fan!  Wonder if it is going to the Super Bowl?

Like black and pink?  Then this would have been a great bag for you!

And this one is absolutely perfect for the Irish Lass!

I have a stack of shirts to work on now – better get busy cutting and sewing!

A New Year for AndMoreBags

As you may recall, I opened up my AndMoreBags shop back in October, 2009 – right before craft fair season followed by the holidays!.  So, needless to say it was a bit quite both at the store and here on the blog.  Well, that is about to change!

I have started to feature Reusable Sandwich and Snack Bags in my shop and they have been a hit!  They are constructed from cotton fabric, nylon, and velcro.  Some have been grabbed soon after they were listed – and Etsian’s dream for sure!  I have coffee themed snack bags, wild animal themed snack bags, and some pink and black ones to name a few.  My favorite one to-date is this coffee themed set –  I like the browns, the blues, and the greens!  Be sure to stop by the shop to see the full offering!  I will be adding more this weekend so stop by often!.

During the upcoming weeks, I will be adding more resusable/go green types of products to the shop so watch for the unveiling of more new products!  In the meantime, I would also like to share with you some of my favorite shops that reuse, recycle, and/or upcycle!

Tamara Garvey  uses recycled kraft lunchbag-esque envelopes for her boxed notecard sets!

Recycled comics are an integral component for the wallets found at Japip!

And I love this pendant that is made from recycled vintage buttons by  Kellybot!
